7b Evaluating Sources

Evaluating Sources 7b:

Website – Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. http://www.cdc.gov/NCCDPHP/DNPA/obesity/childhood/index.htm
I found that this website is a reliable source of information for health trends in our country.
The article that I found sited health statistics taken from the NHANES survey which is conducted by the government and is a very reliable source. The evidence is appropriate for the points being made.
Included on the page is the last day reviewed, updated Feb. 2009, a disclaimer of non-endorsement from any links on their website, the CDC mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address. The content source is the Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity and National Center for Disease Prevention and Promotion.

Book – The Family Guide to Fighting Fat: A Parent’s Guide to Handling Obesity and Eating Issues
The authors are the Texas Children’s Hospital executive staff: CEO, Physician in Chief, doctors specializing in obesity and medical expertise. They are knowledgeable about the topic. The publishers are St. Martins Press published in the U.S. The book was written within a recent time and is two years old.

  1. Hey Amelia,

Your evaluation of your web sources is very thorough! It looks like a good source to me (certainly, a credible one); as long as it's relevant, I think it looks great. Hope you have more sources like this one!
